Rocsys opens office in the United States to support the autonomous charging demand

Rocsys, a fast-growing, innovative tech company which creates reliable autonomous charging solutions for the electric vehicles market, today announced the opening of an office in Portland, Oregon, United States. Rocsys Inc accommodates the growing demand for autonomous charging solutions in the North American region.

Rocsys was founded in 2019, in the City of Delft, the Netherlands with one mission: Powering clean transportation by making charging autonomous. Rocsys creates reliable and safe autonomous charging solutions by combining soft robotics and cutting-edge computer vision technologies, in combination with data-driven services for fleet optimization. Rocsys’ autonomous charging solutions enable commercial vehicle operators to electrify their fleets in a sustainable and scalable way.

Expansion to North America was planned from the start. The strong and ever-increasing demand for autonomous charging solutions for the North American market has triggered an office opening ahead of the initial planning. The latest additional funding round of $6.3M that was concluded in May 2021 allowed for this plan to be carried out.

This new office will be the company’s second location and will allow Rocsys to serve the customers within the region and tailor solutions to North American market needs and specifications. In the coming years, Rocsys Inc will set up local production for the North American market, complying to the Buy American Act.

Crijn Bouman, CEO and co-founder of Rocsys, says: “The electric vehicle market is growing tremendously fast, and we have developed a solution to help it scale even further. We chose Portland, Oregon to be close to our customers and manufacturers on the West Coast. In addition, Portland serves as a robust hub of community and industry stakeholders who are committed to transportation electrification. We are glad that there is so much trust in our company. Not only from our customers, but also from our investors who enable us expand rapidly.”

Autonomous charging solutions are increasingly becoming part of the electrified transportation ecosystem, especially in public transportation, logistics, seaports and airports, material handling and passenger cars. In 2021, Rocsys has signed contracts with a number of notable customers within the United States. Several other major commercial and industrial vehicle customers in the region have already shown great interest in autonomous charging solutions.

Rocsys recently announced it hired Erin Galiger as Senior Business Development manager in charge of setting up the initial US-based team and activities. “Erin brings over 6 years of experience in the electric vehicle and EV charging market and we are happy that our US customers will from now on have such knowledgeable local support” adds Crijn Bouman.
