Mechanical Design Application Engineer

You make the difference

You support renowned international customers in their technical journey. You are responsible for the technical alignment and execution of designs in pilot projects, demonstration projects, and testing efforts at EV charging sites and collaborate with vehicle manufacturers. You represent the mechanical design in a multidisciplinary team of application engineers (mechanical, electrical, and software engineering team). 

Your contribution


As a Mechanical Application Engineer you work on specialty projects for customer specific requirements. You will also support building test set-ups in our workshop in Portland (OR).
 

In this job, you: 

Assemble test set-ups:

Design solutions, procure materials, assemble, test and integrate the application.

  • You align the technical aspects with the customer, installers, and internal R&D teams
  • You support pilot testing with site operators & vehicle manufacturers occasionally on-site or remotely 
  • You support customer expectations regarding mechanical design integration
  • You realise your application designs with rapid manufacturing techniques
  • You arrange test set-ups and support customers with technical questions

Are responsible for engineering new mechanical features.  

  • You work together with colleagues to define concepts and develop them through all steps towards production
  • You work together with suppliers to incorporate design for manufacturing details
  • You document your designs and productions
  • You document your findings and ideas to create and improve operator- and maintenance manuals

What you will bring into Rocsys

  • Machine shop or other mechanical machinery experience (mill, lathe, or drill press) 
  • Engineering background; mechanical, mechatronics and hands-on experience OR a minimum of 2 years' experience in a similar role 
  • An ability read CAD drawings (e.g. Fusion) 
  • A knowledge of design of materials and production techniques, such as sheetmetal, plastics and welding 
  • An ability to procure parts, assemble and test the designs  
  • Enjoy hands-on work and bringing designs to life
